I don't necessarily think these people are stupid per se, it's just they've never been taught. Education is pure lowest common denominator these days. It's not about learning or teaching, it's about making people feel good. Yes, capitals, countries, continents, these are things people should know, no question there, but how can you know something you aren't taught? And even worse, these people are made to feel good about the fact they're functioning conditioned idiots. Self teaching is not cool kids. When I was at school (and I suspect the same for most people here who are in their late 20's/early 30's), if you were wrong you were fucking wrong. Being wrong is how you learned, assuming you had someone with the balls to tell you the correct answer. Instead, now we live in a culture where there is no right or wrong and kids are given fucking trophies just for participating so that they don't feel bad about losing. The end result? A generation of shitheads. And now I will sign off before ranting further (which I could most definitely do )
