I wear band shirts and jeans almost every day and my denim vest when I go to shows but I do it because I enjoy doing it and dressing that way, not to show others I'm a Metalhead. I don't care if other people know I like this music or not.

Funny because I take pride in what I love - I'm proud of who I am - to me Metal is something more than music - it's attitude - dressing like a metalhead might mean you are into it - but it also might mean you are not really...

Oh yeah, I find non-metalheads wearing metal band shirts all the time.  They are just posers that enjoy searching online to find hard to find band attire of bands they don't really like. idiot

I think you don't understand my post. I feel the same about Metal as you. It is true that people can dress the part so what I am trying to say is that no matter how I look like, Metal is in my heart, it doesn't HAVE to be shown on the outside, I just choose to dress that way because I love Metal so much. There were times when everybody was wearing a vest and so was I. There was a time when nobody was wearing a vest but I still was. Now the time has come that it is "popular" to look "metal" but 90 percent of the kids don't GET IT and will move on and there will be the dedicated people still listening and appreciating this great music.

I used to have long hair, spike belts and quite a few black/death metal band shirts. Now, I have short styled hair and I've given away/sold most of my metal shirts and metal attire. I guess I just got over the whole 'look at me, I'm soooo metal' trend. As Agis pointed out earlier in this thread, being metal is in your heart, not in your looks.

No, man I got it - maybe I worded myself wrong. I think that of course - you do not HAVE to do it - some people that are totally into metal do not wear those denim vests and leather jackets and whatnot but some people do - some people like to show that yes, they are a metalhead - but I am denying those that have metal in their hearts - you do not necessarily have to show to all of the kids and whatnot. I am just saying I personally like to wear "metal outfits" - because I have no problem with that and actually like to say - "I'm a metalhead!"

First of all, hello to everyone.

Secondly, I probably don't look very metal. But who cares? I wear my Iron Maiden shirt, Slayer shirt, Pantera shirt, In Flames shirt (can't find other good band shirts at Metal stores around here), Dress shirt, shitty shirt and whatever, I don't have long hair because I would look stupid. I also don't have any tattoos or major piercings either, because I like good jobs and money.

It also has something to do with not listening to dimmu borgir.

Or making your screen-name the title of a Dissection album so bad that Jon killed himself over it. laugh

So called "metal wear" serves as somewhat of a banner, I figure, and is a good way to spot and come in contact with other people that have the same interest. Most importantly its a way to show respect to those bands you worship.

Well since last time I posted here, my hair is longer and shaggier, and I have a slightly different clothes-line...it's not that "metal", but it's moreso then before. *shrugs*

I don't need to look metal to like it anyway.
