How metal do you look?

Hello.

Yesterday I visited the Annihilator website and I noticed that most of the group had short hair. That reminded me of something:

A long time ago, when I had long hair and I wore spikes, I used to make fun of the old guys -guys with jobs- who didn't have 'the metal look'. They said that metal was in their hearts, not in their looks.

Now I don't look metal at all. I wear some band T-shirts and... that's about it.
But I don't think of myself as any 'less metal' because of that. If anything, I feel 'more metal' every year. I have come to agree with the belief that metal is within you. In other words, what I wear is 'metal' because I'm wearing it and yes, perhaps it's in your heart. As I grow old (36 y.o.) I find I have less and less to prove to others.

Any similar thoughts? Do people know you're a metalhead when they see you? Do you feel they have to?

I don't really care what people think but I'm sure they know I'm a metalhead. I'm 37 and still have long hair but I've been sick of it for a few years now and gonna cut it soon. It's always tied back. I don't have as many band shirts as I used to due to the fact I don't see as many shows but still wear them proudly. I love metal and always will till the day I die.

But USUALLY I just wear a metal t-shirt and casual pants and shoes. Although I love my denim jacket. haha

Most of the time, when not at work, I wear a metal t-shirt, but that's the extent of it.

i guess you could say the same about me...well actually thats because i look like the local "bedus" (even with my kreator - pleasure to kill shirt) "bedus" is what people call bedouins in UAE...and for the dumb ones a bedouin is an Arab nomad. (im trying to grow my hair, see if that changes anything  )

And speaking of Annihilator, Jeff Waters actually grew his hair back recently.

I'm in the process of growing my hair out for the first time to see how I like it. I'll wear band shirts from time to time, but mostly just to shows (I only have 3 right now). Other than that, I just wear "normal" clothes.

I wear band T-Shirts, and have medium length hair. I used to have it long, but I have one of those Adult jobs now. I don't give a fuck though. I wear whatever I feel like. I have a few spiked bracelets and such, but I don't walk down the damn street with them on. I have them for novelty purposes more than anything else. Of course on Halloween I'll be in full corpse paint.

But yeah, it's about the music, and not what piece of cloth you happen to be wearing. I'll leave that nonsense for the Hot Topic kids.

I used to wear metal shirts often when I was in High School, but since have stoped. I've always had my hair short, I usually shave it, and I used to have a goatee but I recently shaved it off. Now I don't look metal at all, I never wear bands shirts anymore.

Band shirts, jeans, running shoes, hair thats starting to get long and facial hair from time to time.  I find boots and bullet belts ridiculous to wear around when not at a show.  I'd say looking metal is more in the eyes than the clothes you wear, you've got to have the evil look in your eyes.   Oh yeah and a Manowar-esque physique.
