Long Driving Music
« on: March 20, 2010, 02:02:21 AM »

After recently taking a peruse through my collection to make a playlist for the rather long (for me) drive to Washington D.C., I just decided to see what you guys listen to when you take a long drive (4 hours or more).

Eh, that's not such a long drive.

In fact, it's about the perfect length to listen to the complete discography of most bands.

With no family in the car, I just put the iPod on shuffle (skipping the kids music)

Iron Savior is good for driving.  Also Ironsword, Nocturnal Rites, Omen are good.

I second Iron Savior.  I found Sabaton to be good while driving too.

I usually listen to an album every day while driving, and I never listen to playlists or mixes. I carry a briefcase of albums under my seat of all different genres, and I usually change some of those out over time. I can pretty much listen to anything while driving, but driving at night does indeed enhance the mood for me, even to the point of me calling certain albums "night albums" that should only be played at night.

Latest Driving Music (Metal):

Kamelot - The Black Halo
Warbringer - Waking Into Nightmares
Candlemass - Death Magic Doom
While Heaven Wept - Vast Oceans Lachrymose

Non-Metal

The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
The Rolling Stones - Some Girls
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
The Beatles - The Beatles (The White Album)

usually if i have a long drive i listen to:

Amon Amarth-Twilight of the Thunder God
Amon Amarth-With Oden On Our Side
Unleashed-any
Priest-any
Lordi-any

just as an example, it varies obviously depending upon my mood at the time of the trip  Grin
