Classical melancholy / Neoclassical BM
« on: October 09, 2009, 07:57:18 PM »

Modifying this post instead of making a new one, as I have now discovered a couple of bands that fit this description perfectly.

I was looking for bands that incorporated pure classical sounds into their metal soundscape, pure classical piano, violin, cello, etc. In addition to dark and melancholic classical compositions, new or old.
In addition to having pure classical songs.

I've found Nachtreich (http://www.myspace.com/nachtreich) which suits this perfectly.

I'm about to check out Bann as well, if anyone knows of any more music that would suit this type of description please give them a mention here. icon_smile

Virgin Black are pretty good, but they're definately more metal than straight up classical

Check out Corelli's Concerto Grosso (Christmas Concerto). One of the most amazingly dark pieces of music I've ever heard.
