That's really sad to hear. I can't even imagine what it'd like to be him. I remember reading on these forums only that someone here suffers from a milder variation of that disorder.

Ah I see... They're doing a lot of stem-cell stuff these days so you have hope! I can't believe that in this day and age, there's a disorder for which there's no cure or suppression technique....

I always wear earplugs at shows, I don't care if people look at me like I'm a wuss.  I can still hear.

I do too, ever since seeing Entombed in 1997 when I had ringing ears for 3 days straight. I find it actually takes some of the crackle and hiss away too, giving a better clarity of sound.

I just don't go to shows anymore. I cannot risk any more damage to my ears. I consider myself fortunate, though. This can be much, much worse.    Grin

Ever since Deep Purple in 84, I have worn earplugs.  I actually had to hold my hands over my ears for most of the show.  It was so loud, it was painful and I was deeeeeeeep in the back.  I can't imagine what the people up at the front were going through.

I see a ton of people at shows now wearing earplugs and I agree, it usually makes the music sound a little clearer by filtering out the insanely high sounds.

I was at the Testament/Onslaught/Warbringer show last night, and fuck, when I got home, I couldn't hear a damn thing. It felt like I had a ringing bell inside my head.

Saw Manowar in a club in Providence RI on the Fighting the World tour in 1989 with about 100 other people.  Needless to say they didn't have their big amps, but they were still pretty damn loud.  Oh, and awesome!  Black Wind, Fire and Steel was a killer show closer.

That's awesome. If I wasn't broke all the time, I would get off my fat ass and fly to watch Manowar, but alas, I'm doomed to live in this shit hole.

Another case of a band that plays to thousands in Europe and they can't even fill a lousy 300 person club in their home country in support of their major label debut.

I think Manowar has the world record for the loudest concert, do they not?
