guess what
« on: September 18, 2006, 11:14:46 PM »

this probably would have meant more if it was before the forum went down and i was still active... but i'm not going to be here for a while.

i've joined the US Army... I'm going to go have a life and stuff... we'll see what happens but things should go pretty well.

I haven't even gone to basic training yet and they've already promoted me... that's how much of a god I am. Actually, it's just because I have some college credits, but it's still cool that I already outrank some of the people I'll be going through basic with. I know some will be the same rank and some will outrank me... but at least I won't be at the bottom.

Well... should be fun... we'll see what happens

Not everyone goes to Irag. It pisses me off how everyone says that. I'm going into the Air Force, hopefully I get to leave for Basic Training in January. Good luck man, I have a friend in the Army and I've heard it's pretty tuff.

Well I've heard the Air Force is quite selective when it comes to their recruits so you must have something special. i've always had an interest in aviation... that's why my MOS is in the aviation field... hopefully I'll be able to become a warrant officer later on and be a pilot. I have a couple friends in the army, a few in the navy and a couple in the marines... i'm confident i can handle this.

Thanks... and good luck to you too.

That's funny because my interest is in aviation too. I've been around it my whole because my dad was an Aircraft Technition for 20 years for United Airlines; and my grandfather was a Navy Seal so I've been around military stuff my whole life too. I want to either do some sort of mechanics or grounds work on planes.

You want to be an Army pilot? That's cool, but shit since you want to be a pilot you should join the Air Force and become a fighter pilot or something.

Good luck to you, it takes some guts to join the army. I'd never do it. I've no interest to possibly be shipped off to some foreign country and be in danger for my life. My brother is in the army and on his way to Iraq. I'm not happy about it.

Well, the branch I joined never really mattered to me, but I have a lot of friends in the Army (I have a couple in the Navy and Marines but more in the Army)... also, the recruiters for the Army are so much cooler than any other branch. All the other recruiters are kind of like cheerleaders, "Hey! come on and like join the Navy!! like totally!" or "The marines are the best branch there is, you want to join the marines! yay marines!!" but the army guys are sitting around, joking with each other... it's just a lot better to hang out with those guys than the other recruiters... but then when they go to help me choose a job and everything, the army is the best. The navy and marines say "well, you join and then MAYBE we'll give you the job you want... but we'll probably just give you whichever one we want to give you." i didn't talk to the air force or coast guard recruiters for jobs but in the army, you choose your job, then enlist... also, your job is in your contract, so you get the job you chose.

Besides, I don't want to fly a jet... I've always been interested in helicopters. I wanted to work with Apaches, but those jobs were all full.

As far as the getting sent to another country thing goes, I don't mind. Hell, the way things have been here lately, I might as well be in Iraq. Iraq isn't a place I'm looking forward to going, but if they want to send me, oh well... that's just more money added to my paycheck.

Yeah that's how my recruiters are too. They are real chill cool guys, and tell everything straight up how it is. Also the cool thing about them is they keep in touch with us to see how were doing, even after were in. Yeah in the Air Force you get to pick your job, and it's in your contract before you go to Basic Training. Also in the Air Force after basic training you get to pick where and what base your stationed at, depending on your job of course.

yeah... in the army, you can get in your contract where your first duty station is, apparently... but if you don't get that, they give you something to fill out in basic training. you choose the top 3 places you want to be stationed in the US and the top 2 outside the US... they try to put you in one of those places if they have a need for you at that place.

Good luck to you.
Despite what some media like to portray, there are many Canadians who do support most of the efforts of the American military.
You can definitely hold your head high.

Good luck "fighting for the freedom" of ordinary Iraqis and Afghans, who love America more than America loves them.
