The problem is that in contrast even a decent release (and I think "Christ Illusion" is more than decent) from Slayer more or less trumps even good releases from other bands....I think...

And to those that think it hasn't got the speed and Slayer agression....wake up! Take "Cult" or "Flesh Storm" - that's much speedier, thrashy and more agressive than Slayer's last output...

You've got to be kidding me.  That hasn't been the case for years.  Time to pull your head out of your boyfriend's ass and start realizing what's around you.

First of all - drop the boyfriend reference cause' it ain't funny of even witty....

Also I do follow what's around me - Toxic Holocaust, Sauron, new Sadus, Exodus, Chemikiller, Ravage (US), Deathchain, Hatesphere - these names ring a bell? Or maybe some Vomitor or Violator for your trouble?

When all is said and done I dunno which band can trump Slayer at their game - have you listened to "Christ Illusion"? I'm not saying Slayer was the genius with GHUA but "Christ Illusion" is a diffrent matter altogether - speed, agression and better vocals from Araya - and put what Toxic Holocaust against that? Of course TH is a great band but let's leave Joel in his league - listen to "Flesh Storm" and then to any song off the new TH - can't beat Slayer in terms of brutality and speed....

Of course that is not to say that it is the next "Reign In Blood" - it is not. But a BIG return to form and a good CD from Slayer....

It's too slow.  I mean who cares?  It's a step in the right direction, but that's as far as it will ever go.  In time, this album will look as just as much of a blemish as the last couple of albums.  It would be wiser for them to quit.
No! They can still make a lot of money off of there name, and isn't that what it is all about in the end. Just because it is Slayer, people will buy it and think it is great.....these young punk kids just don't know any better. These are the same kids that think Metalica's last album was awesome! icon_eek

I love "Cult"! It basically sums up how I feel about religion.

Look, the two of us are friends so don't get so offended when I make a comment (you are the old Polish Warheart, right?) because message boards are not so that I can stroke everyone's balls.  Yes, I have heard the new Slayer in it's entirety and I stand firm on everything that I have said.  And no, I did NOT listen to it meaning to trump it, quite the contrary, I heard it was a relative return to form and I eagerly went to go hear it, only to be dissapointed.  Speed?  Where?  Agression?  Palm mutes don't make it agressive.  Better Araya vocals?  Are you kidding?  They are worse than they were on GHUA for fuck's sake, and that album is far worse overall than this new one.

First things first - I am not the old Polish Warhear - sorry to dissapoint you mate Grin

Secondly - do not tell me that the speed and agression are lacking - "Flesh Storm", "Catalyst", "Supremist" even parts of "Cult" are speedy and there is no denying that - this album has speedy tracks - listen to those again and tell me the speed is not there - it is NOT Reign In Blood but it is much speedier than GHUA...

As for the vocals - Araya took the more "bare" approach - just screams and no fucking with stupid effects - and his screams sound better than GHUA - listen to "Cult" - "There never was a Jesus Christ..." - that is bad vocals?

As for the agression bit - this is debatable - but in my book the new Slayer is agressive - and it is NOT the palm mutes but the overall feel of the music - it sounds meaner not "fuck all" Slipknot wannabe-crap...

Do NOT compare the new Metallica to the new Slayer - these are two diffrent things - do Metallica have the riffage of "Flesh Storm" or the dauting atmosphere of "Skeleton Christ"?

Oh fuck yeah - there's absolutely no comparison possible between those two.  The new Slayer has some annoying nu-ish shit, but at least overall it's real metal.  That hasn't happened to Metallica in 15 years.

Anyone else curious as to why American thrash bands can't produce thrash like the Germans can.  Anyone hear the newest Sodom, Kreator, and Destruction, all better than Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica sick.

The best part of Slayer GHUA is right at the end....."Your fear gets me off like fuck!" I like that saying, I say that to myself a lot. The biggest fear I have is wondering just how bad the next Slayer album will be compared to that one!

Yeah - that was my point absolutely - and the nu-ish shit is kept to a minimum - "Jihad", some parts of "Eyes Of The Insane" maybe more - only moments on the CD. I cannot see how someone says that for example "Skeleton Christ" is nu - that's crap - thrash is not about blasting as fast as you can - that would be grindcore...
