It seems as if the almighty have returned. The former kings of thrash make a decent comeback album with Lombardo back behind the kit. I have noticed that most of the songs are good, and it reminds me of their sound on "Divine Intervention," but a few tracks just flat-out suck, such as "Eyes of the Insane." What do you guys think of it?

It's a lot better than I expected, which means it's decent. Some songs sound like they came from Seasons In The Abyss which is what saves it for me. Some of the stuff is more along the line of GHUA which incidentally sucks, but was not exactly unexpected. That said, overall it's listenable. Of course one can't expect the Slayer of yesteryears, just like one can't expect Metallica to ever sound good again. Well Metallica are a lot more of desperate case so that's not the best comparison.
I'd say if you really want it, get it when it comes out, at which point some big box stores will probably sell it for several dollars less than the regular price. I heard a store in Toronto (The Exchange, I think) will sell it for $6.66 for a limited time when it comes out.

It's too slow. I mean who cares? It's a step in the right direction, but that's as far as it will ever go. In time, this album will look as just as much of a blemish as the last couple of albums. It would be wiser for them to quit.

I don't think they should quit. I think they could still write a good comeback album. Kreator seemed to be all but gone before they came back with Violent Revolution. Slayer has taken a step back in the right direction and hopefully can come up with a true "comeback" album for there follow up to Christ Illusion.

It's definitely better than GHUA, but that doesn't mean it's good. I found it OK, I listened to it a couple of times, but it was nothing special.

Easier said than done. I don't think it's going to happen.

Some of the songs are pretty good, and some of them suck ass; so basically it's just an average album, and not a comback album regardless of what Slayer wants to say. I think their time has pretty much passed when it comes to songwritting, but I saw them live last week and they still kicked ass.

It could have qualified as a comeback album if they had done more songs like the best ones on the album (sorry, headache = blank memory.) Instead they threw in some stinkers similar to their more recent material - that's what "kills" the album. But it's listenable, which is more than I could say for God Hates Us All.

They'll make true comeback once Kerry King stops taking influence from SlipKnot.
