First,let me say how much I enjoy this band's music.They were in a league all their own.I have 3 Greatest Hits compilations and their first album.As you all probably know,their discography is pretty extensive.Which brings me to my question:
Which 1 or 2 albums are MUST-haves?

I love "Don't Fear the Reaper", "Burnin' For You", and "Astronomy". I used to have a greatest hits, but I gave it away. I'm interested in collecting their discography (no compilations or live albums), as well.

Generally the things that are absolutely essential are the records up to "Agents Of Fortune" + "Fire Of Unknown Origin" - and I agree that the band is great stuff - classic hard rock...

They had a live album/dvd that came out a year or two ago that was simply awe-inspiring. They just absolutely killed it live even at their age there has been absolutely no decline..the Hard Rock version of Saxon... True - but Blue Oyster had some CD's that were less then stellar - but so did Saxon for that matter... Anyways - a band to reccommend - in fact I think there should be Hard Rock thread to reccomend and discuss great bands like this one... |
