What do you think of the prog heroes from the 80s? Their impact on todays progressive music? If you like them, which are your favourite albums?

Moving Pictures is one of my top 5 all time rock albums with Red Barchetta and Camera Eye as the standouts.  Prior to that more hits than misses (Fly By Night, Working Man, Temples of Syrinx, Farewell to Kings), afterwards, more misses than hits.  Presto and Roll the Bones have some good stuff and the new one, Snakes and Arrows, has a few moments.  Otherwise, post-Moving Pictures has too much synthesizer and not enough guitar for me.

I love them.  One of my all-time favourites, metal or otherwise.  It's true that they were more consistent in the old days, but they still have a lot of good songs since then.  I can probably make a top 40 list, and knowing me, I probably should.

I find some of their earlier stuff to be similar to Dream Theater, includng Geddy's vocals.  Probably an influence for DT.

Standout song for me is probably Subdivisions, but there's a whole lot more comparable in quality.

Dude, you made a double post.

Rush is a good band. Of course I like their earlier work the best.

i enjoy most Rush a lot. 2112 to me is a classic, as is Moving Pictures (everyone knows YYZ by now, damn guitar hero), but - Snakes and Arrows was pretty much completely passable to me. Only song i enjoyed was Malignant Narcissist and - that was only for the trippy aspect.

My favorite Rush album has always been Exit Stage Left. I was never really a huge fan of live albums, but this one is truly classic. Once you hear Peart and Lee on this one, you'll laugh at Dream Theater. The liveness really extenuates the awesomeness of the instrumentation.

Hell no! "Test for Echo" is my favourite!  (Driven, Half the World, Totem).....I also like the newest "Snakes and Arrows".
Test for Echo have kind of a "folky-driven-touch". I do respect the older Rush albums, but I´m not much for nostalgia.
If Faroe Islands would move to Canada, Tyr would probably sound something like this.
