I just received their new DVD (I think it's a 1996 performance) from their label's PR company.

Is that from the concert they did in Spain?

AC/DC are one of those bands I just never 'got'. Although they have the odd decent rock song, they generally bore the arse off me.
To semi-quote Butthead... "Brian Johnson sounds like he's taking a dump... huh huh huh huh"

I like them, and while I'll probably check out the new album, it really does all start to sound alike. Eh, just a fun band.

Back in Black was a huge album for a 14 year old just getting into harder music. It still sounds good today. The new single has that same kind of sound. Hope the rest of the CD is as good. Most of their stuff between BIB and now has been pretty weak. King Leoric - Guardian of the King

I only have three albums by them, although I know a lot of songs on the other albums. Back in Black is one of the albums I've spun the most in my collection. Haven't checked out the new stuff yet.

No one is going to mistake them for metal (they have even said in interviews they don't like being referred to as "metal") but if you go back to some of the early Bon Scott stuff like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Problem Child, Whole Lotta Rosie, Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock n Roll), etc. you can see where many of today's bands got some of their ideas. And there is never a question about what you are going to get: no ballads, no experimentation, just blues based hard rock. King Diamond - Mansion in Darkness

I saw Bon live here back in 1978 when AC/DC opened up for UFO. One of my first concerts and still one of my fondest memories- AC/DC with Bon Scott and UFO with Michael Schenker. Two of the bands that steered me toward metal.

Definitely hard rock, though they still "sound more metal" than a lot of stuff we have reviewed here (or is reviewed elsewhere.) But that can be said of a number of hard rock bands.
