Anyone from Gothenburg?

So, I'm about to go on an exchange program in Finland, and since I'll have a few days off before classes begin, I've decided to visit Gothenburg. My question is (if there's anyone from around there, or have been there sometime): What are the landmarks that you recommend for sightseeing? I'll only be a full day so I want to make the best out of it.
Thanks in advance...

Well, I've lived in Gothenburg my whole life but I've never gone sighseeing here but I'll give it a try.
Gothenburg doesn't really have any big attractions, the thing that most people visit is the amusement park in the town centre but it's quite boring if you ask me. There are tons of better and bigger parks in other contries...
I would take a trip out to the archipelago (Vrångö is a nice island, quite a long boat trip though ~50 minutes boat + ~25 minutes with tram from town centre) with one of the small boats it's quite nice, at least if the weather is good...
Then I would spend some time in the town centre, there are some sights here, nothing special. It's not a big town so you can explore the whole centre by foot if you want. The older parts of Gothenburg "Haga", is perhaps a nice place for a lunch or coffee.
There are tons of museums as well, I would rather go to the fortress "Älvsborg" in the river that crosses the town.
Well, I can't really think of anything else for now, but I'll gladly answer any questions you have.

Hello Erk,
Doomed…? Hey, cheer up man!
I am curious of the music industry in Sweden, particularly Gothenborg. It seems most of the Metal I listen too is from Sweden. What is the reason for this? Are there more metal heads per capita than other places there?
I am from Minnesota, which is famous for the Minneapolis sound, more specifically Prince. I hate this shit, it makes my stomach turn. To tell you the truth, I cannot think of one good band from this state. Probably the market, eh? People here are more interested in rap, Prince, and other subhuman music. Wish I knew.

There's a pretty sweet metal band from Minnesota called The Fifth Sun. I don't know if they play shows these days, but they have a couple albums that you can get for pretty cheap. They actually recorded their albums at studio fredman in gothenburg (I think) - so there you go - the gothenburg connection right in your home state.
If you like melo death, you should check them out.

Yeah, this band is awesome. I actually read your review and checked this band out a long time ago. I was shocked by the song writing of these guys! Metallica and Megadeth would be envious, and learn something from them. Some of the best thrash-y guitar riffs I've heard in a while. So good, I can pretty much ignore the vocals. Believe me, been trying my hardest to appreciate this style of vocals.
The fact this band had to cross the pond to record their albums should be enough evidence to conclude how disconnected this part of the world is from decent metal.

Hehe, I'm quite ceerful I think, but I can't tell you much about the music in Sweden though. I don't have very much to compare with but I guess a lot of people here like metal and rock to some extent at least. Maiden sold out 60 000 tickets in a couple of hours here in Gothenburg and even though Gothenburg is the second biggest city in Sweden, there are only about 600 000 inhabitants. Maybe there are more metalheads per capita as you put it. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case, the population in Scandinavia isn't very impressive and there are quite a lot of bands from these parts of the world...
