Freedom Call is good fun live. Just by reading this "United Alliance" spontaneously popped up in my head.

Aye, his stage banter was a bit strange. Couldn't believe the didn't play "Freedom Call" after having drawing out "Mr. Evil" for so bloody long.  laugh

We got "United Alliance", which has sort of replaced "Freedom Call" as their signature number.

I remember saying to Foley that if Sargon was there during the calypso segment of "Mr Evil" he wouldn't have been amused.  icon_smile

Saw Judas Priest two weeks ago.  My expectations were perhaps unreasonably high, but the Priest actually managed to exceed them.  They played at least one song from every album (with the obvious exceptions of Jugulator and Demolition), put on an awesome stage show (I got a kick out of the wizard getup Rob wore during the Nostrodamus track), and went on for more than two hours, including three encores.  Shows aren't cheap in my part of the world, but they made it worth every penny and then some.  Also, Rob's voice didn't sound nearly as burned out as I thought it would, though he now has to "scream" notes he could formerly wail.

All in all, a very fitting "epitaph" for one of metal's greatest acts.  My only complaint is that somebody thought it was a good idea to make Lamb of God the opening act.

Saw Iced Earth, Warbringer, and a local band called Halcyon Way. I somehow got front row against the banister. Halcyon Way was pretty good and Warbringer played an hour long set that really got the mosh pits going. They were loud as fuck. Some asshole was screaming for Living in a Whirlwind the whole set, even after they played the damn song. Iced Earth played a ripping set with just one ballad. They were even louder than Warbringer and it was great to hear Angels Holocaust, When the Night Falls, Damien, and Dante's Inferno live. Stu Block can hit some crazy high notes. I caught one of Jon Schaffer's picks and even managed to shake his hand. Afterwards, I bought a shirt and the Dante CD and then I talked with Michael Lepond from Symphony X. Apparently they didn't play because the management didn't want them playing Atlanta twice since they will be headlining ProgPower USA this year. Seemed like a very nice guy and I shook his hand. Great night.

Pretty much my exact reaction when I saw em on this tour, but I actually loved Rob's performance. His screams shook the room.  ylsuper

I had planned on going to the Orlando date on this tour, but I was buying my girlfriend a car, so I wasn't able to go. How was the turnout? I would think that a lineup like this would've brought out a lot of people.

I'll be seeing Cannibal Corpse and Exhumed in Gainesville, Florida in May. I also might go see Abigail Williams and Jungle Rot on the upcoming Deicide tour.

There was a very good turnout. The line stretched around the block by the time they let us in. If Symphony X had played I imagine there would have been even more people. I would have loved to have seen them play stuff off of Iconoclast.

That makes me happy. I always like to see crowded metal shows. It keeps metal alive with all of our support! icon_cool

Just found out my band is opening up for Aura Noir and The Bastard Son of Toranga at the end of may. Can't wait to see Aura Noir, they're totally going to rip my face off.

Also have a doom all dayer coming up the weekend before the Aura Noir show. Think all the bands are British, with a bit emphasis on stoner doom. Still, Conan and Bong should be good fun!

Well I guess I won't be seeing Widow this summer due to the fact that Paul D'ianno just cancelled the damn tour. What an asshole. icon_rolleyes

I saw Nasty Savage at the Classic Metal Festival near Chicago in 2003.  That was a cool show - definitely try not to miss them.

Was he really smashing TVs on his head all those times or was it a hoax?
