I read somewhere that Hitler was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize

I would not believe that. On what grounds would he have been nominated? His reign of power lasted only 12 years and in that time Germany was involved in two separate wars (Spanish Civil War and WWII), not to mention the economic war he started with the U.S. and Britain in 1935. Even if you do not take WWII into account - Hitler's ever-growing animus of extensive economic and social nationalism (up until 1939) was a threat to all of Europe's attempt to become a single economic entity, which was a consolidated effort by the entire mainland after the end of the first world war that became intensified during the Great Depression.
As for Hitler being nominated/winning awards, he received Time Magazine's
Person of the Year in 1938 because of his "heroic" rhetoric and decision over the Münichen agreement. Then again, that award has some serious flaws, as Stalin was awarded the title twice (1939 and 1942).
